Data Point: 58% Visit News Websites On Mobile

For catching the most up-to-date developments in today’s current affairs, mobiles have become key devices. Almost six in 10 internet users now choose to consume their news via mobiles, and there is a slight skew towards males for this activity. But it’s by age where Global Web Index data shows the most telling results. Younger age groups spend the longest amount of time per day on their smartphones, and it is 16-44s who post the highest figures.

Social media has played a crucial role here – virtually all online adults are now using it each month, and it’s 36 percent who say that staying up-to-date with news and current affairs is one of their main reasons.
