Infographic: KSA & UAE Onliners Lead VPN Usage Globally

Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) have kept a steady hold on online users globally. While the motivation for using VPNs vary, two facts facing marketers and media industry is that VPN users are difficult to track and hence target, and that VPN usage reiterates that for some users, better content quality continues to be concern in some markets, very specifically emerging markets.

According to Global Web Index data, in the last month alone 25 percent of used a VPN, led by laptops and mobile phones.

Even as only 19 percent of online audiences use VPNs in the Middle East & Africa (MEA) region, which is far lower than regions such as Asia Pacific and Latin America, Saudi Arabia and the UAE are part of the top 10 markets globally for VPN usage.

Data also indicates that the primary reason for people to surf via VPN usage in these markets is for accessing better entertainment content, underlining the opportunity for media companies in these markets.
